#TheReadingQuest Sign Up and TBR!

Hi everyone, I’m really excited to talk about a super cool readathon created by Aentee from Read At Midnight! The Reading Quest is a gaming style readathon in which you undertake one of the characters on the bingo style board, all of which were created by CW Read, Think, Ponder; the designs are truly amazing and gorgeous! The aim of the readathon is to read all the ‘quests’ on your characters path and even doing some side quests in order to level up. I’m going to include the link to the original post as it will explain it all a lot better than I will.

Anyway, I may have gotten a little over excited in planning what books I could pair with which quests in order to decide upon my character. I had to also make sure for my sake since University starts in over a month to ensure that in each characters quest that there was one or two books as part of my required reading. Though as this reading project is about a month I hope that I with my chosen character I can get their quests done along with some of the side quests. Now onto the character I have chosen and my initial TBR for their quests!

To begin this gaming readathon I have decided that the character which I will be playing as will be a Rogue. Typically when I am gaming it will be the Rogue and Mage which I typically play as so my thoughts are to begin with Rogue and see were we end up along with attempting to complete some of the side quests. The Quests for the Rogue’s path include:

  • A Banned Book: I picked Philip’s Pullman’s Northern Lights, as it is part of my required reading this year but I understand in some areas across the globe that it has been banned on religious grounds. I am eager to read this book and hopefully I will go on to read the series too!
  • A Book Cover with a Partially Obscured Face: The Spell Book of Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle. I love the cover of this book and the face is mostly covered so I hope this counts as I’ve been dying to read it for so long.
  • A Book with Less than 500 Ratings on Goodreads: Unboxed by Non Pratt, I’ve heard nothing but great things about Non Pratt’s work from my good friend Darran so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to pick up one her books.
  • A Book Published by a small press: I decided to choose a book from PuskinPress (With help from Cora) and decided upon Piglettes by Clementine Beauvais as I had just purchased it yesterday and heard nothing but good reviews so far.
  • A Book with a One Word Title: Which I picked as Catalyst by James Luceno as I of course had to include a Star Wars novel or something that relates to Star Wars in this readathon!

Here is my Rogue’s Quest TBR for The Reading Challenge which starts on the 13th August and finishes the 10th September! Let me know what you will be reading and what Character you will be undertaking for the readathon as I’m excited to see how everyone progresses. I think this readathon is definitely one of the most creative I’ve seen and been most excited to undertake!

  1. Ooh, interesting that you’ve gone for the Rogue! I’ve mainly seen people pick Knight (which is also my choice, if I decide I want to lowkey take part). I can highly recommend all of His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, and can see how they’ve been banned in some places for religious reasons, although it’s mostly the second and third books that contain the more sensitive/bannable material. Good luck with this!

    1. Good Luck with your oath! I’ve only really seen people pick Mage or Knight so in true Rogue fashion went Rogue! Haha. Definitely looking forward to read the Northern Lights.
